Note: Following the release of ASA REST API version 1.3.2-346, the API version numbering scheme was changed to match Cisco ASDM versioning. The REST API can be used to configure ASAs in conjunction with existing management interfaces and applications-command-line interface (CLI), Adaptive Security Device Manager (ASDM) and Cisco Security Manager (CSM). Also note that when other security modules are present with a classic ASA, there are no APIs for those modules. The term “classic ASAs” refers to appliances which don’t include CX or SourceFire Sensor, or the integrated functionality of NGFW (next-generation firewall) services.
